Affiliate programs are a great way to profit on the Internet, especially for those people who don't have a lot of money to start with.
(Note: Affiliate Programs can also be known as: Associate and/or Reseller Programs )
In most cases, you won't even need to have your own website to start with, you just promote the program's affiliate referral site assigned to you. This has worked quite well for many people. Some people working multiple programs do better from their own website. Either way, Affiliate programs can earn you a full time income with very little initial investment.
Many (even most) of these programs are free to join and many have excellent earning potential, while others have less potential. However, don't let that unnecessarily influence which one or ones you join.
There are actually two distinct approaches that have worked for other people, and you should choose the one that best suits you, or mix the two.
1. Join a few programs that have high-ticket products and therefore achieve high profit or commissions on each sale. You will need less sales to generate an appreciable income, but you may have to work harder to achieve each sale because of price resistance. 2. Join MULTIPLE programs that focus on low-ticket items and promote all of them. Customers will likely buy more readily, but you'll need lots more sales to achieve worthwhile results. However, this approach CAN work fantastically well for some people. MULTIPLE lots of small commissions can and do add up to a respectable total. Click
here for a great example of this.
Whichever basic approach you take, or even if you adopt a mix, you'll need to put some time in to promote it and get it or them earning money for you.
Finding Affiliate Programs Many online businesses have Affiliate programs, and they usually have a link on their home page. You can spend hours, days or even weeks surfing the net yourself looking at the many options or you can join an affiliate network, such as
Affiliate Showcase, where a huge variety of affiliate programs are available.
Some Features to Look Out For:
1. Lifetime Commissions. Some affiliate programs allow you to keep earning commissions from multiple purchases by the same customer.
2. Multi-tiered Programs. Many affiliate programs allow you to refer others to the affiliate program and pay you a small commission on their sales too. A some even do this on 2 or 3 tiers, a few have even higher "commissionable" tiers.
In Summary, Affiliate Programs can be a great, cost-effective, way to start your own online business.
Just remember that you will still have to put in some effort to make it work for you, such as promotion.
